I still attend a lot of minor league games. I sit close and watch every pitch, a habit I developed growing up in a family full of minor and even major league umps. It’s a lovely way to spend a summer evening. Sadly minor league numbers are way down. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/milb-attendance-numb...

As the OP article mentions it’s a great pastime for all walks of life. Minor league games aren’t even about winning most of the time as you get to watch coaches prepare players for the show instead of worrying too much about the final score. I love baseball and especially my local minor league team.

It’s a very unique experience being that close to every nuance of the game. I feel like it’s how baseball was meant to be experienced - in the dirt close to the players. A kind of feeling I’m just off work in the 19th century and want to relax. Where the local baseball team is kind of a third place between work and home. It’s fun to hear a lot of the heckling too.

MLB is just a completely different thing. It’s a sanitized experience packaged for TV.

I'll follow baseball again when they introduce promotion and relegation to the league. Baseball has a minor league system perfect for a Wrexham run.†
