They should hang the people who make these threats to send a message both against those who may do so in the future and to those who have spread the disinformation fueling this particular instance of stochastic terrorism
Hanging sounds like a bit much, actually a lot much.
I would however love it if we devised a way to identify sources of disinformation and do the modern equivalent of tar and feathering, then banishment.
If civilization is to function, there has to be at least some level of base facts that we can all agree on without crying "it's political!"
