I'm just hoping (but sort of not expecting) for a lower cost Mac mini. A little $350-400 macOS puck would be nice to have on the desk.
I'm sure today's lower end mac mini will come down to that range once these new ones drop.

To be fair, Apple is still one of the most innovative companies in the personal computing sector. They spend a lot in R&D.
Not much mention of RAM. That seems to be the big constraint in this day and age of excessive software bloat.

Sure, but why? Asahi Linux is the furthest along to my knowledge.
