    I wonder if the universal basic income will be become normal in my lifetime. As we increasingly automate, I see our lives getting more like Star Trek.

        Opposing automation is obvious. The people opposing it have nothing to gain, and everything to lose.

          They would have everything to gain if automation was treated as an opportunity to work less for the same pay instead of an opportunity to get laid off.
