Still baffles me why people left twitter simply because of Musk. I would assume politics, but then you are using it for technical discussions only?

And why not mattermost but zulip?

If you don’t understand, then stay and enjoy twitter. There’s now more good fit competitors for everybody- you don’t have to like the same things other people like.

I happen to enjoy Bluesky more than its competitors. Twitter’s vibe shifted once Elon started injecting his rants into my timeline and made it so people could pay to be boosted in replies, and I’m not really into what it’s become now.

What we receive is determined by algorithms, directed by the sites bias. Having a bunch of Musk-syccophants & right wing nutter blue checks flooding the timeline & topping replies is repugnant beyond words.

Also, it was unclear to me what the real "liberal bias" of Twitter was (other than "realities well known liberal bias"). The mods seemed even handed, getting rid only of truly detestable content, and rarely rarely rarely had I seen counter examples. But we keep seeing some pretty wild cases of people being banned for all sorts of pretty petty mild cases of lese-majesty against Musk, or some egregiously offensive racist or Nazi or white supremacist shit not only left up but re-X-ed by the king. It's a travesty & insulting.

The idea that we can keep just going about while the town square burns about us feels ridiculous. This is a channel for ourselves, and saying to just keep doing your tech, ignore all the muck and slime feels out of touch in extreme to me.
